Our May Ride n' Camp (fromerly known as the April Ride n' Camp)! Heading into Iowa (again) for some time in the Loess Hills. Hitchcock Nature Center is our destination. We'll be camping at Shea Way group site, which is a "hike-in." Bikes are not allowed on the trails within the park, so we need to be respectful of that and hoof it into the campsite (about .5 mile). We'll leave from the shop (40th and Farnam) at 1p. Meet here around 12:30p. The route is about 24 miles (one way) and is a combination of city streets, bike trail, paved highway, and, as Jessica says, chunky gravel and purdy Loess Hill-y vistas. You are responsible for yourself and this is an 'at your own risk ride' (<- these are things I have to say, folks. If ya need help, we ain't gonna leave ya stranded). As always, bring enough food/snacks/water for the ride and campout. We'll have a stop at TBA restaurant/bar in Crescent, which is about 5 miles out from the camp. Camping fee is $10 per tent. I'll have the shop open starting at 9a, so if ya need something last minute, we'll be here. But please address it before hand. Like at least a few days, yeah? There's a coffee shop across the street and pizza just a few doors down to kill some time before the ride. There will be some potential construction to navigate, so we will re-route a bit on the west side of the park and access from the north. Still a good ride!
